LSU embellishments

Things have been a little hectic here; however, I have managed to get a few things done. Not quite where as much as I would have liked to get done, but some progress was made!!

These embellishments were completed in very little time; if only all embellishments took that little of time to complete!!

Materials:

• Small chipboard letters & Various (small) size Stars
• Paint: Apple Barrel Purple Pansy & Dandelion Yellow (you can switch out colors)
• Metallic Extra Fine Point Sharpie & Metallic Fine Point Sharpie (Don't have to use both, I choose to because I had both)
• Paint Markers for the sides of these tiny letters (if you want them that way)
• Glue pen
• E600 glue or Glue gun
• Small team emblems or any other items you wish to embellish with

I didn't use any sparkly trinkets because these are for a baby boy and I don't believe his father would have cared for his to have sparkles everywhere!! LOL!!

First, paint your small chip board letters in the color you choose as your base. I painted the sides of L, S, & U in yellow being they wouldn't get tiger stripes and then painted the front of them purple. Once they were dried I did another coat of yellow on the side in order to touch up any purple that may have gotten on the yellow. You can see in the picture above.

Using purple pansy as my base, I then painted all the other letters and some stars purple. Yellow wasn't added to the sides because those were about to receive tiger stripes. Once the purple was dried, I then took the metallic extra fine point sharpie to draw and shade in my tiger stripes on the letters.
For the star I used the same method; however, for the larger stripes I used the larger-tip sharpie. You don't have to use sharpie-brand, but if you do decide to use two different sized tip markers, be sure to use the same brand due to the variance in color.

Once your letters and stars are dried, you can now glue your stars together.  I choose to glue my smaller tiger-striped star on top of my larger purple star using E600 industrial glue.
It's not a big deal if the center stripes aren't perfect; you will cover that up.

To the left are the materials I used to make the star excluding the purple pansy paint along with the finished product of the two stars combined.


Once your star is complete, you can now secure your small emblem in the center of your star as shown below.

Using a glue pen apply your glue behind  your emblem and place it in the center of your star. Even though they these were already sticky, I recommend using glue to ensure security. The adhesives usually tend to ware off as time goes by; however, if you don't have a glue pen or craft glue, using the original adhesive can work. 

To the right is the completed piece.




Once my star was completely dried, I then glued it on the the letter "I" of the wall letters using the E-600 industrial glue.

 Completed!! Still have more of the wall letters to complete though.
I'll post a picture once they are all completed and of course more tutorials explaining the embellishments!!









Here is a better picture of the tiger-striped letters once completed. I orginonally was going to place them on his "T", but being he has two "T's" in his name, I'm not sure if it will look right to have to have one with the tiger letters and one without, especially since they are right next to each other.

Baby Boy Collegiate Collection Wall Letters

Here is a sneak peak of the wall letters I'm working in for a baby boy!! His room's theme is LSU (Go Tigers)!!
I've covered then in football paper & burned around the edges to give a little character!!
Next I will add some LSU embellishments; however, I'll try not to add too much as I did on the previous letters!! That may be a little hard for me; once I start with embellishments, I can't stop!! Hehe!!
I sketched a draft to follow, but I tend to get a little off course if you haven't noticed by now!!

Wall Letters Completed

...And here is the completed product!!
Thank goodness she loved them!!! For all of you who don't know, my niece tends to speak her mind and doesn't hide how she truly feels. I wasn't sure if she would like like them being they didn't turn out how I intended them to. My sketch looks completely different, but I did the best with what I had!! Of course I ran into a couple of issues, but I just went with the flow and this is where it lead me!!!! I must admit, I was surprised she liked them as much as she did!! She's definitely a little DIVA!! Gotta love her!!

Embellished Letters: "E'' FINALLY!!

Finally, I figured out what to do with the "E", since I ran out of rhinestones half way through lining the entire outside of it and there were none to be found (that I could get my hands on in time for her party)  in the size or color I had already started using. However, I believe everything happens for a reason, so I tried not to let it bother me too much.

And here it is the "E"... FINALLY...
It matches the "I'' better than I had anticipated. Not saying it's the prettiest letter in the world, but I'm impressed it came out this decent. There is a  touch-up I'll have to make on the bottom star though.

This is another pendent (star) from that same necklace matching the pendants I used on the ''M''; however I frosted this piece. The glue used to attach the rhinestones obviously leaked and is much more visible on frost. I used another coat, but it looks like I'll have to use one more; this time I'll use mod podge diluted in water to help blend it in. It gives a similar effect, but I wouldn't recommend using it for big pieces.

I also added links to the star and attached decorative brads as pendents. In the picture I had a dragon fly behind each, but I took them off before finishing up. It was just too bulky; they are cute dragonflies, but this wasn't the spot for them.

Letter "M" Embellished

Well I gave you the bits and pieces of my embellished letters, so here are the others I've embellished the ''M'' in. I feel it may be over-done, but I'm more simple and I know my niece... well she's definitely far from simple!!

Made the "Memories"banner in advanced so when I tried fitting it onto my letter ''M'', it was a little large.
On top the banner is another one of my hand-made Gerber Daisies with a bottle cap in the middle rather than a button. You'll see me use a variety of materials as the center of the flower. I like to change it up!!

CHANGE OF PLANS: Originally I planned to put the Gerber Daisy in the bottom corner and the banner on the other top corner being that side has more room. ....And this is how it turned out.
Here you can see that I added a black ribbon on top of where the different cardstocks overlap, hiding any imperfections.
Also, I placed a pink rhinestone, which is the same size as my polka dots, on top of a few pink polka-dots to add a little sparkle. However, I didn't place many because it would have been too gaudy considering all the other embellishments I 've added.  I love gaudy, but not too gaudy.



And here is a close-up of the stars. This was a necklace I once wore, but the chain links were tangled up. Therefore I placed the stars on new links, covered them with scraps of cardstock from this project and found them a new home. Very Simple!! Oh; but first, be sure to clean any tarnished jewelry with toothpaste before using it in your projects.

Also, if someone can Please leave me an opinion of whether or not these letters may be over-embellished (keeping in mind they are for a young girl), I would truly appreciate it. I've asked a couple of people, but those who have been over aren't exactly the best at being straight forward. I need honest opinions from people who aren't afraid to hurt my feelings!!

More Sneak Peak Embellishments

I first must apologize for the horrible quality of these pictures. My camera is currently out if commission and I've been substituting it with my low resolution camera on my phone. Once again sorry!!
So I added on to the flower by placing a pinwheel on each side with an "X" on one and an "O" on the other.
I've obviously made way too many embellishments for the letter, being her name consist if only four letter, but I have a couple of ideas of what to do with them... One will be a magnets, but stay tuned to discover their future purposes!! Also, if you have any questions or concerns about any of my creations, your more than welcome to ask.
